Heritage in Historic Downtown Provo

Provo Storefront

Boothe Brothers Music started as a passion project for longtime Spanish Fork and Salem resident Steve Boothe, who was “tired of driving 20 miles just for guitar strings.” With one guitar on the wall while Steve taught as many guitar lessons as he could to keep Boothe Brothers alive, the staple music store of Spanish Fork was born. For the next 30 years, Steve and his brother Mike ran Boothe Brothers, eventually moving into 135 N Main St. in Spanish Fork, where we still are today! Over time, Boothe Brothers Music became southern Utah County’s go-to music store, even reaching down into Nephi, Delta and beyond for our wonderful customers there. For so many people, we got our start in music with Steve and Mike at Boothe Brothers.

The addition of Curt Gordon in the early 90s didn’t hurt, either. Curt is one of the most well known individuals in the Utah music scene. The longest-running employee at Boothe Brothers until his retirement in 2021, and his continued restoration and running of the Angelus Theater a few doors down, makes him the name everyone around here knows – when you need a guitar, you talk to Curt.

A few cities away, on Center Street in historic Downtown Provo, the Great Salt Lake Guitar Company was looking to get out of the retail business. Jumping at the chance, Boothe Brothers Music acquired some of the GSL inventory and opened its first-ever second location, right in the heart of one of Utah’s most well known and beautiful cities. Committed to keeping the spirit of GSL alive, and expanding the customer experience anyone who has shopped at Boothe Brothers has come to love, Boothe Brother’s Provo Location was born.

In 2018, Mike Boothe tragically passed away after more than 25 years of helping Steve and Curt turn Boothe Brothers into what it is today. Steve retired in 2016, passing the company down to his family and longtime friend and employee, Curt Gordon. In 2021, Curt decided to retire and the company got its new management, still in the Boothe family, but now branded Boothe Music. As we look toward what the future has in stock for us as a company, and you as our customers and partners, we’re excited by what we see and dream.

The Provo store is now fully stocked with every item and experience you’ve come to know at the Spanish Fork store! We haven’t forgotten (and won’t!) Provo’s GSL roots, so this beautiful building still has the guitars and accessories you’ve come to know and love. But did you know we have Orchestra and Band instruments? We even rent them out, at either location in store, or online at our website! in our private studios! Our goal is for every customer to have a personal, incredible experience when they walk through our door.
